Here is the complete list of criteria to be met to be eligible for financial aid.
Eligibility: House (single-family, semi-detached, row, mobile, chalet type) where electricity is used as the main source of heating. The measure is only admissible once per home.
Financial Help
Hydro-Québec offers financial assistance of $1,500 for roof insulation and caulking work when all of the Program’s requirements are met.
Eligible work
To be eligible, the work must meet the requirements below.
Roof insulation
– The work is carried out using materials which do not pose a risk to
health.
– The company carrying out the work must be registered with the Business Registrar of
Quebec and hold the appropriate licenses from the Régie du logement du Québec (R B Q),
given the work to be done.
Caulking work
– The work must concern the caulking of windows, exterior doors and French windows, the access hatch to the vacuum under the roof and the ceiling lights, the draft fans (e.g. kitchen hoods), power outlets, built-in elements, fireplace, if applicable, as well as any place that generates air leaks.
– The company carrying out the work must be registered with the Business Registrar of
Quebec and hold the appropriate licenses from the R B Q, taking into account the work to be accomplished.
Permissible measure
For your request for financial assistance to be eligible, the measure must be put in place and must respect the following conditions:
Roof insulation
– An insulating material must be installed so that the thermal resistance of the roof reaches at least
minimum an R S I of 8.8 or R 50.
– The entire surface of the roof must be insulated, either by adding fiberglass wool or another equivalent insulating material.
Caulking work
– The caulking work aims to improve the waterproofing of the home in a manner
to reduce air infiltration.
